soup dumpling lasagna

Short on time but feel like dumplings? Try the viral recipe setting the world alight. This fun and easy recipe that fuses both cultures will be sure to inspire all the tiny chefs in the house!


  • 2 Serves
  • Prep time: 10 minutes
  • Cooking time: 25 minutes

FILLING INGREDIENTS

  • 100g Peeled prawns mince
  • 150g Pork mince
  • 3 Garlic cloves peeled and minced
  • 1 Spring onion finely sliced (~1 tbsp)
  • 60g Nappa cabbage / normal cabbage minced
  • 8g Ginger minced (1/2 tbsp)

  • 1 tbsp Soy sauce
  • 1/2 tbsp Shaoxing wine
  • 1/2 tbsp Sesame oil
  • 1 tsp Chicken Bouillon powder (optional)
  • 1 tsp White pepper
  • 1/2 tbsp Corn starch 
  • 1 Egg    

cooking ingredients

  • Spring onion finely sliced (Garnishing)
  • Chives finely sliced (Garnishing)
  • Coriander (Garnishing)
  • Sesame oil
  • Soy sauce 1 tsp
  • Vinegar 1 tsp
  • Chilli oil (optional)


  • 10 pastry sheets of either Tak On Food Products Wonton or Gyoza wrappers.
  • Chinese clear chicken broth or normal chicken stock
  • Water


COOKING INSTRUCTIONS FILLING

  1. Peel ginger and garlic.
  2. Chop and mince ginger, garlic, nappa cabbage and add to mixing bowl.
  3. Finely slice spring onions, discard roots and add to mixing bowl.
  4. Mince peeled prawns, discard tail and add to mixing bowl.
  5. Add pork mince to mixing bowl.
  6. Add soy sauce, shaoxing wine, sesame oil, chicken bouillon, white pepper, corn starch and egg to mixing bowl.
  7. Mix ingredients by hand for 2-3 minutes or until paste like consistency.

COOKING INSTRUCTIOns SOUP DUMPLING LASAGNA

  1. Use a rectangular bowl and coat the inside with sesame oil (15 x 10cm bowl used in this recipe). 
  2. Prepare a bowl of warm water.
  3. Dip the wonton or gyoza wrapper in the warm water and line the bottom of the bowl (Use 2 wrappers per level).
  4. Layer the filling evenly to cover all of the wrappers (~2cm in thickness)
  5. Repeat steps 3 and 4 until we have 5 pastry wrapper levels (Total 10 pastry wrappers) and 4 meat filling layers.
  6. Pour 100mL of clear chicken broth on top of the dish.
  7. Steam the dish for 25 minutes.
  8. Remove dish and add soy sauce, vinegar, and chilli oil.
  9. Garnish with spring onion, coriander, chives and enjoy!
